UTV Review - Polaris Ranger Crew 800 |
|
Down at the hunting land nothing is more useful than your ATV. We put more hours on our ATVs checking game cams, putting up and moving stands, mowing, fertilizing, spraying, you name it we use the crap out of our ATVs. This year we added a UTV to the mix. The Polaris Ranger Crew 800. With seating for six and lots of space to store and carry stuff we figured it would fit our growing hunting party. Well we were right! Starting off we have quite a few little shooters running around. With 9 kids under 11 at the cabin the ATVs were not able to get everyone around. The six seats really make it easy to take four or five future hunters down into the woods. Since our hunting properties are separated by a mile of road being able to pile people and gear into the Ranger means fewer trips back to the cabin for tools and forgotten items.
Performance. This is a heavy beast! It's not made for speed or tearing around. That said there is yet a hill, gully, rut, or washout that has been a problem for the Ranger. The top end performance is just fine for the one mile road run and the suspension is top notch! If you are looking for a trail running UTV, take a look elsewhere, this is a workhorse. ATV vs. Ranger Our ATVs have their place. We can get them through the tighter sections of woods with ease. The shorter turning radius (about 1/2 the UTV) makes it easier to whip around and get out of sticky situations. But that's where it ends in the ATV's favor. The Ranger's seating, easy handling, and versatility make it the hunting land king. And with Grandpa getting older, the UTV is looking like the machine to use. |

The game camera is the number one way to get your group, and neighbors, into big buck hunting! For years game cameras have been increasing in quality and the prices are really coming down. Every now and then we will review one of our new tested cameras. Post some pictures and let you decide! We recently picked up a Wild Game Innovations IR4 to test out. This IR or no flash camera was on sale at our local store for only $79! That's a great price for an IR cam. We took some quick test pictures with it and it performed very well. We'll be getting back to you with some new pictures and maybe some video soon. |
